THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, April 16, 1978, p. 4A: 'Virgil Hignight, of 1221 17th NW, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was 79. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Cox officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Hignight was born Sept. 15, 1898 in Arkansas, a son of the late Nedam and Georgia Hignight. He married Miss Linne Velma Carmon, April 15, 1917. She preceded him in death June 6, 1964. He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Carl (Freda) Bowden of Paris, Mrs. George H. (Virgie) Germain of Fort Worth, Mrs. Earl F. (Jewel) Bowden of Paris, Mrs. M. J. (Imogene) Jones of Dallas, Mrs. Eugene (Nonie) Hill of Dallas, Mrs. Loydd E. (Odessa) Acker of Negley and Mrs. John (Gertrude) Smith of Paris; two sons, Oscar N. Hignight of Paris and Buddy F. Hignight of Sumner; 44 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by one son, George Hignight and one daughter, Amayzoo Miller.'
