Oregonian, The (Portland, OR) - July 9, 1992 VIRGIL LAWRENCE ESTEB Virgil Lawrence Esteb of Beaverton, a retired insurance man, died of cancer June 20 in a Beaverton foster care home. He was 81. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in Valby Lutheran Church in Heppner. Mr. Esteb was born June 16, 1911, in Portland. He attended Linfield College and graduated from the University of Oregon. As a young man, he worked for the Oregon Automobile Insurance Co. in Portland and taught school in Coos Bay. Mr. Esteb lived most of his life in Eugene, where he owned and operated the Esteb Insurance Agency for about 20 years. Following his retirement during the mid-1960s, he lived in California for many years until he recently moved back to the Portland area. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Nancy of Portland and Sally Cureton of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Hazel Holboke of Portland; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Heppner. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Valby Lutheran Church.
