  • Data from Warren Co., NJ Marriages by Verna A. Jacob; film SLC 0368920. *Whereas, Elias H. Warbasse of the twp of Independence, county of Warren, & state of NJ, son of James R. Warbass, dec., & Anna, his wife: and Violetta Laing of the town, county, & state, aforesaid, daughter of John Laing, Dec., & Jane, his wife; having agreed to take each other in marriage, & having consent of parents & those concerned; they, for the full accomplishment of their intentions, did (on this the 10th day, of the 2nd month, in the year of our Lord, 1853,) personally appears, in an assembly convened for the occasion, at the residence of James Wilson. in the town, county, & state aforesaid; they did then & there, take each other by the hand, and on that solemn occasion, declare that they took each other for husband & wife, promising with Divine assistance, to be unto each other, faithful, & affectionate companions, until separated by Death or words to that import. And they, the said Elias H. Warbass & Violetta Laing (she according to the custom of marriage, assuming the name of her husband) and as a farther consumation thereof, did then & there to those presents, set their hands.
