!BIRTH-IMMIGRATION: "Progenitors--Those Most Misunderstood," ACADIAN GENEALOGY EXCHANGE; ; vol. XXIII, no. 4 (Oct 1994); P. 119; own copy; these facts have been verified by the Centre d'Etudes acadiennes as accurate. "Vincent BRUN and one other Acadian were from LaChaussée. All the other names below said to be from Martaizé or LaChaussée were derived from conclusions derived by researcher Genevieve Massignon. Later research generally disproved these conclusions."

!CENSUS: 1686, Port Royal, Acadia, age not given, living alone between the households of Germain TERIO and Francois LEURON. He is the grandfather of Germain TERIO, whose mother Andree BRUN has remarried. Vincent is the widower of (Marie) Renee BRAUD.

Originally from the village of La Chausse, Loudunais, France, Vincentarrived in Acadia about 1648. He is an ancestor of CardinalVilleneuve.

Notes #1 Parents: Le patronyme BRUN est fort bien représenté dansnotre région. D'après les dictionnaires étymologiques, le nom defamille BRUN proviendrait d'un sobriquet désignant une personne brunede cheveux. (Une création originale du Conseil Général du Haut-Rhin)

I have since found out that a prof. at the University of Moncton inNew Brunswick has the name "Regina Brun" and teaches Acadian History!What I have is a hand-printed page...".

    Vincent BRUN, born around 1611 (Port Royal census of 1671, age 60 years), was a "laboureur." He married around 1644 to Renée BREAU; five children. He died (Belle-Ile-en-Mer Declaration) at Port Royal.

Vincent arrived in Acadia around 1648, having married around 1644 to Renée BROT; five children listed, born from 1645 to 1659.
