Facts and Events
Victor Leopold Timothy was born in 1871 at Shoreditch in the inner north-eastern suburbs of London. He was the son of Elizabeth Timothy, formerly Hutchings, and her husband Peter Vincent Timothy, a physician and surgeon. The census taken shortly after Victor's birth finds the family living at 72 Worship Street in Shoreditch. By 1872 the family had moved to Lewisham, where Victor's next two siblings were born, before moving down to Hastings on the Sussex coast where Victor's youngest sister was born in 1875.
Victor's parents appear to have separated around the late 1870s or early 1880s. The 1881 census finds Victor living with his mother and siblings at Southport on the Lancashire coast, whilst his father was living with another woman (with whom he would have a son later that year) in Manchester.
By 1891 Victor was working as a civil engineer's apprentice in Barrow in Furness in Lancashire. His younger brother Gustave was lodging in the same house as him and also a civil engineer's apprentice.
Victor died at the age of 22, dying in the Hastings area of Sussex. Both his parents survived him.
