Mrs. Vernon Keys Mark, former long-time resident of Wayne and St. Davids, died in her 89th year on Sunday, April 9th in Media, Pennsylvania. She and her husband of 68 years had lived at Riddle Village since 1994. Born Florence Vernon Keys in Glade Spring, Virginia, Mrs. Mark traced her ancestry back to the early 1700's in Colonial Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of Sarah Katherine Peery and Samuel William Keys, a prominent Virginia banker and former President of the Virginia Bankers Association. She was educated at Emory and Henry College in Emory, VA and at Strayer College in Washington, DC. Mrs. Mark was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher, the President of the Women's Society for Christian Service and as a church pianist for many years. Mrs. Mark owned and operated an antiques business, The Pewter Bowl, located on the Main Line until her retirement in 1977. Prior to moving to Riddle Village, she lived in Rehoboth Beach, DE for ten years and for 12 years at Hershey's Mill in Chester County. She was an avid antique collector, a Senior Member of the Society of Appraisers and a Member of the Great Valley Chapter, DAR. Her hobbies included reading, genealogy and antiquing. She is survived by her husband Louis B. Mark, to whom she was married in 1938; two sons, William Steven Mark, MD of Malvern and Andrew Peery Mark of Villanova; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lima United Methodist Church on Monday, April 17th. Interment in the churchyard at St. Peters Church in the Great Valley will be private.
