A beautiful life close its earthly pilgrimage Monday night, at 11:45, when Mrs. Dell Foil passed away peacefully at the family home four miles north of Franklinton. She had been in ill health for the past few years, heart trouble being the immediate cause of her death. Surrounded by her loved ones, her spirit wafted to her Maker, joining those going on before and to spend the beautiful eternal life for those whose faith in immortality supported them as they passed through the shadows to the great beyond. Mrs. Foil was 73 years of age, was a widow of J. C. Foil, who died about 28 years ago, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Bateman. Among the survivors are six children, three boys, Mike Foil, Hugh E. Foil and Maurice Foil, all of Franklinton; three girls, Mrs. Joe Daniel, of St. Francisville, La., Mrs. L. H. Butler, Franklinton, and Mrs. Clyde Ward, Bogalusa, all prominently connected in the affairs of their community. A number of grandchildren; and two brothers, Will M. Bateman of Franklinton and J. W. Bateman, Baton Rouge, and one sister, Mrs. A. G. Magee, Sr. of Franklinton. Mrs. Foil was a long time member of the Clifton Baptist Church where funeral services were conducted Wednesday May 17, 1939 at 10:00 a.m., with her pastor, Rev. J. W. Wood, assisted by Rev. W. L. Compere, officiating. Interment was made in Stringfield Cemetery. Not alone has the family sustained an irreparable and exceedingly sorrowful loss, but the community in which her quiet, beautiful life radiated its gentle influence is also grieved. Her's was a life filled with love, charity and Christ-like virtue, and she was loved both for her noble character and for the many deeds of kindness to those of her community who looked to her for guidance when nearing the tragedies and pitfalls of life.
