Mrs. J. E. Bateman entertained at dinner Saturday in honor of Hon. J. W. Bateman of Natchitoches, who came back to the old home town to deliver an educational address before the Teachers Institute in session here Friday and Saturday. This visit was made the occasion of a family reunion of the Bateman's at the home of the eldest son, J. E. Bateman, and at this table groaning under good things to eat, was seated the aged mother, Mrs. Gabe Bateman, and her nine children surviving out of a family of ten, Judge J. E. Bateman, Mayor of Franklinton McCauley, Wm. Dewitt Bateman, progressive farmers of this parish, Prof. J. W. Bateman, head of the Rural Schools Department, Natchitoches, and Dr. M. Bateman, a practising physicion at Richardson; Mesdames A. G. Magee, E. A. Burris and Dell Foil.
