    [this obituary is in the "Mt. Hermon News" section, under date of 28 June 1931] H. McCauley Bateman died last night at his home in Mt. Hermon after a brief illness. The funeral rites will be conducted Monday afternoon in the Mt. Hermon Baptist church at 2:00 o'clock by Rev. E. B. Shivers, assisted by Rev. Scott Paris. Interment will be in Ellis cemetery at Franklinton. He was 56 years old, was a devout member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist church and has served as deacon for many years. His wife, who was Miss Sarah Miller, with eleven children, survive.
