CHARLOTTE M. HIGGINS NOTES 1853: This 7" x 7" note book has CMH's name and the date March 11th 1852, presumably in her hand. Booklet has various penmanship drills, translations (Latin?), notes on flowers planted, unidentified prose (hers?) and two pages of what I take to be her family genealogy: families of U Higgins and Esther 'Cooly'; U Higgins and Rebecca Duncan; John Duncan and Rebecca Mechem; James Mechem and Rebecca Hawkins. [Booklet passsed through the family to my posession 6/96.] b dates and places NOT given in the booklet for Uriah/Esther family group. But see HARDWICK V.R. p 58

HISTORY OF HARDWICK [MA]: p 397: Uriah b 24 May 1742 [from the context, at Palmer, MA]; all birthdatesp 274: Uriah on payroll of Capt Timothy Paige's Co, Bennington alarm, Aug 1777 p 297: taxed at Hardwick, Southside, 1776p 101: Sep 14, 1788 testifies about Jonathan Danforth [Davenport?] buying tea at Albany in Dec 1775 HARDWICK [MA] VR p 58: 'Urriah' s of Elisha/Hannah 'HIGGENS' May 24, 1742 also has b. dates for 11 children of Uriah/Esther. Records go into 1800's with no record of any of those children having children. No marriages, no deaths. [But surely Shadrach b 1782 died there]

CENSUS 1820: VT [not found - presumed deceased as per above] HISTORY OF TOWN OF PALMER, MA (J H Temple, 1889) p 157-161. Describes fitting out the meeting house with pews.. and seat assignments 1764. Listed in 'ye Second seat' is Elisha Higgins; in the fifth, Uriah Higgins. [No other Higgins; no Meacham, no Duncan references]
