Truman Sawdy enlisted in Co.E,3rd Michigan Inf. on May 10,1861 at Grand Rapids.Transferred to Invalid Corps on Nov.26,1863 and was discharged at expiration of term of service at Washington DC June 28,1864.(Co.E,18th Regiment,Veteran Reserve Corps.)In 1867 he married Cordelia R. Pike,daughter of Asa Pike of Barry County Michigan.Their children were Sylvia,1865-1885,Clara,b.1868,Sarah Jane,b.1869,Cora,b.1874 and Jay,b.1879.He became a doctor and died at the Michigan Soldier's Home in Grand Rapids at the age of 58.
