Some details are from the North Tipperary Genealogy & Heritage Services, October, 2007. His sponsors at his baptism were Tim Toohey and Kitty Gleeson. Many later details have been provided by Ron Hawthorne. Later documents imply that he was born March 1835. He joined the Militia, the 8th Regiment of Foot on 04/02/1853. On 23/08/1853 he was in the Second Battalion of 9th Regiment of Foot and he became a sergeant. He was pensioned 16/01/1883, and he was a railway porter in 1893 and 1894.
