Her mother's former name was written on birth certificate as Kattle. She was with her family at 43 Welby Street, Grantham. She was still a scholar at age 14, which was unusual for the time. Perhaps her education had suffered from moving about. Perhaps she went to the Welby Street school nearby. At the time her future husband, John Parker, was 19 and living at 16 Hands Yard, a few minutes away, off Welby Street.
