No occupation given but presumably assisting father with the farm. 1861 - Unmarried, living with his father on Little Common, North Lopham. 1866 - Granted probate for the will of his father, jointly with Henry Saunders (farmer of Burston). Farmer, of North Lopham. 1866-67 - Following the death of his father, the rents due - £22 - are presumed to have fallen to him - extracted example from North Lopham Churchwardens' Book. (NRO PD 338/13) 1871 - Living on Little Common, North Lopham with wife an four children. His mother-in-law is also in the household. Farmer of 200 acres, employing 8 men and 1 boy. 1872 - Listed in Harrod's Directory as either a farmer or seed merchant in North Lopham.
