Facts and Events
Although variously recorded as Thomas, Thomas William and William Thomas, it appears that this person is the son of Thomas WOMACK & Mary FRANCIS, who was baptised as just "Thomas". Unfortunately at no time is he found on censuses with any relatives, but there's a further circumstantial link that a number of Thomas & Mary's descendents were employed on the railways. Marriage allegation, marriage certificate and baptism of first child all show his name as WILLIAM THOMAS WOMACK. 1824 - Baptism: Thomas, child of Thomas WOMACK, weaver, and Mary late FRANCIS. 1841 - Living at Fenn St, Redgrave, Suffolk, with parents. Aged 15, not born in the county. Recorded as Thomas. 1849 - Living in Ardleigh, Essex. Bachelor, aged over 21. (Marriage allegation made by Emma, naming him as William Thomas WOMACK.) Marriage certificate seems to give his occupation as "Police". 1851 - Living in Swainsthorpe with wife and one son. Thomas WOMACK, station clerk. 1851 - First child baptised at Bramford, Suffolk. 1860 - Station master living in Ardleigh, Essex. (baptism) 1861 - Thomas W. WOMACK, living at the Railway Station, Ardleigh, with wife and five children. Railway Station master. Birthplace, Roydon, Norfolk. 1871 - Living at the G E R Station at Ardleigh with wife and seven children. Station Master G.E.R. Thomas W. WOMACK, aged 47, born at Roydon, Norfolk. 1881 - With wife and three adult children at the Railway Station, Ardleigh. Thomas W. WOMACK, station master, G E R.
