Facts and Events
26 Jul 2000 email for descendant Gene Dixon ([email protected]) said that Thomas Whisamore was from OH and had a son named Thomas Hathaway Whisamore (this Dixon's grandfather). He has some photos of Thomas H. and Cindy (Stowe) Whisamore. Thomas was probably born in Noble Co., IN (NE corner) See downloaded photo of Thomas Henry Whisamore's Children found on Family Tree Maker (Eugene-Dixon photo), taken at Oswego, Labette Co., KS about 1950. George, Maggie Braught, Flossie Dixon were shown with comment that Fannie Dixon died 1917. That report included a Descendants record of Thomas Whisamore (19 century dates for generation one). April 2003 materials from Juanita Whisamore Smith (5647 RFD, Long Grove, IL 60047-8245) included considerable leads to documentation. I am storing that Email in my correspondance folder 64c7 (Evert Braught 64c7c3c2). Consider the connection of KS sites with T.R. Braught sites. She gave Bible record birth as 01 Feb 1863 at Noble Co., IN; died Vanita, OK 31 Jul 1946 and buried at Oswego, KS in same plot as Thomas and Sarah plus Thomas and Mary. She reported children with documentation from census, obits, birth notices, and Thomas H. Whisamore's commitment papers from Eastern State Hospital, where he died. See Henry Co. MO marriage record of Thomas H. Whisamor of Urich, Henry Co., MO (over age 21) and Mary C. Stow of Urcih, Henry Co., MO (over age 18). Application May 22 and marriage May 24, 1885 at the home of Thos. Whisamore by R. S. Rose, minister of the Gospel. She provided a large photo of aged children George, Maggie, and Flossy (undated, but likely early 1900s. from clothing...more clues from auto, etc. if interested). Those materials included at record of Landowners of Labette Co, KS in 1906, pg 37; Hackberry Twp, showed Whisamore, Thomas - SE 1/4 -9-35-20. Her materials included a photocopy of the 9 June 1900 U.S. Census for Pawnee, Payne Co., OK (with note that Thomas and David were shown on the same page that was not visible in this copy). It shows D64 F 69 Whisamore, Thomas b. Feb.1862 age 38 b. Indiana; fa. b.p. unknown, mo. b.p. Indiana; farmer (see other data in photocopy or original, if needed). Mary C. wife b. April 1867 MO, Lucy F. age 10 b. Oct 1889 in MO; Maggie B. age 8 born Dec. 1891 in MO.; and son George H. age 5 b. April 1895 in OK. Those items included at Warranty Deed Record in Payne Co., OK on 23 July 1901 where Thomas H. Whisamore and Mary C. Whisamore, husband and wife in Payne Co., OK sold for $625 to J.O. Milleman 40 acres of land in the NW quarter of the NW section 17 in Twp. 19 N. of Range 4 East of the Indian Meridian. The Whisamore in turn paid a $200 mortgage balance to L.W. Clapp. Both Thomas and Mary could not write (gave their mark in presence of witnesses on 18 Feb. 1901 The materials from Juanita include a copy of Quitclaim Deed between T.H. Whisamore, widower and Maggie B. Braucht for sum of one dollar the transfer of Lot 4 of Block 32 in the town of Blue Jacket, OK dated 11 May 1944. Also in the Lunacy record of the Easton OK State Hospital, it showed that Maggie had petitioned and Thomas H.
