    State census states he arrived in Herkimer county in 1817. He was a farmer by trade and lived in an area called Smokey Hollow off Newport road in the town of Newport, New York. He had one daughter married to Dr. J.W. Rose of West Winfield, Herkimer County, New York. [not counting the daughter Sarah he is living with in this census!]
