U.S. Army Ret. : Waggener, Thomas - born 11/15/1762; entered service 1781 as a Sergeant in Culpeper County, Virginia, where he resided, in Virginia Regiment; granted Pension 1832 in Christian County, Kentucky; query letter in file in 1907 from W.P. Waggener of Atchison, Kansas, states soldier died in Oak Grove, Christian County, Kentucky; query letter in file in 1911 from great granddaughter Mrs. Harriet Newberry, Hughson, California, says she too was great great granddaughter of Captain James Gaines; query letter in file states soldier died in 1842 near Orchard Grove, Kentucky & was son of John [Waggener] whose brother Thomas (b. c1725-30, Revolutionary War Soldier, married Mary Garnett, & they had daughters Mary & Ann, they probably resided in Culpeper County, Virginia), further Robin Garnett & wife Mary Fawks had three daughters who married three Waggoner brothers, Thomas, James & John, further James Waggoner's Last will & Testament 1788 in Culpeper County, Virginia, lists wife Ann & children: Richard, James, Thomas, John & Ann, also James Waggoner born abt. 1745 in Culpeper County, Virginia, married Nancy & they were parents of Herbert G.
