Facts and Events
The Turples are descended from Johan Gottfried Torpel, Schoolmaster of the Lunenburg Settlers. John Turple Sr. (Thomas John Turple) married Mary Bradford, said to be German immigrants. He lived in the old Turple-Norris house of the Admiralty at Norris' Cove, Darmouth. There are receipts from the dockyard for old John and Mary Turple and most likely represent their pay as caretakers fo the Admiralty property. They had a large family and it was wondered how they could bring up all their children in such a little house. Norris' Cove, near Tufts Cove, Dartmout, is also called Turple's Cove.
