Thomas Townsend was born circa 1735 at probably "Millfield" on Broadkill Creek, near Beaverdam Branch, Sussex Co., Delaware. He was the son of Benedictus Townsend and Lucilla Light. Thomas Townsend married Anaphilda Watson, daughter of John Thomas Watson and E. Alice (--?--), circa 1758 at probably Orange Co., North Carolina. Thomas Townsend died before 20 May 1796 at Greenville, Greenville Co., South Carolina.1
