This tree notes for Thomas Sharp: SHARP is an anglized form of MacGillivray. The MacGillivrays raised highland horses called Garron. The orginal gaelic Gearr, is the verb to cut. A gelding is called a Garron. The MacGillivrays were an old clan in Argyll, Scotland. In 1222, the clan was dispersed. Some are in Mull and Moran, some went to Strathmairn. The Sharps probably came to America for Religious reasons. |
