   Thomas Root bought land in Coventry, Connecticut in 1708. He was the first town clerk and deacon, and served the church and town in many other positions. There is no record of his estate at the Windham Probate Court.

   He went to Coventry, Connecticut in the year 1709. He was the first town clerk and the first deacon in Coventry. The second child of English parents born in that town was Ephraim.
