Facts and Events
Thomas Clayton Quattlebaum, age 92, passed away at his winter home in Lake Placid, Fla., May 11, 2005. He was born in Greenwood, S.C., on Oct. 3, 1912, the son of Stephen Olin Quattlebaum and Allie Mae Duncan. He was one of nine children, and is survived by two brothers, James Quattlebaum of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Howard Quattlebaum of Pensacola, Fla.; a loving daughter, Carol Klenow of Goodrich, Mich.; a grandson, Wade L. Klenow, his wife, Lynn, and great-grandsons, Corey and Justin of Davison, Mich.; a granddaughter, Michelle Klenow Williams, her husband, Mark, a great-grandson, Hunter Williams, and a great-granddaughter, Haleigh Williams of Lapeer, Mich. In 1938 he moved to East Tawas, Mich., where he made his home. He and his loving wife, Lucille, were winter residents of Lake Placid, Fla. She preceded him in death in 2003. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Tawas, Mich., and was an associate member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Placid. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 27, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Buresh & Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas City, Mich., with Rev. Denise Gundersen officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Tawas City, Mich. Memorials may be directed to Development Department, Good Shepherd Hospice, 4418 Sun 'N Lake Blvd., Sebring, FL 33872.
