Died near end of Revolutionary War in the Battle of Eutaw Springs. When the smoke cleared, 950 men were dead and wounded between 2 armies. 300 men taken prisoners, majority British & Loyalist. British under command of Lt. Col. Alexander Stewart & Americans under Command of Maj. Gen. Nathanael Greene.
