Rec'd.info.from Lowell Leopard whose father's mother was daughter (Arie Josephine) of John Ransom Owens; his mother's family (Whitmire) is from James Owen family(who married Anna Right). Records were found in family bible and papers........Jackson/Haywood/Macon County books say Owen/Owens families were large (14 to 16 children with many names not listed)........Itta Owens (b.1901; d.2003) and her mother (my grandfather's sister b.1867; d.1970) spoke of the Owens family setting on the porch and their talks of family. They said they spoke of "going when they were young to see 'Papa' at 'Uncle Jacob's'".

Had at least 2 children: Jacob (with whom he lived in 1850) and John Ransom
