B. 1812 Irvine, sometime partner in firm Maxwell and Somervail, Glasgow merchants, afterwards res. at Irvine. D. Edinburgh 1878. Grandson of 989, nephew of 5758 (mat). 989 was Thomas Maxwell (mat 1743), minister of Stewarton 1758-96; d. 13mar1796. 5758 was George Maxwell (matriculation albums, Glasgow University). In 1861 Thomas Maxwell (1813 Irvine, cotton merchant), wife Constantin M. (1830), children, b. Glasgow, Elisabeth (1850), Jane M. (1851), Patrick W. (1856), Constance A.
