Notes for THOMAS ROSCOE HOPKINS: >From The Daily Register Mail, Galesburg, IL, Saturday, November 27, 1948: Funeral rites for Thomas Roscoe Hopkins, 259 North Broad Street, Prominent in business education for 45 years, whose unexpected death occurred Friday morning at 10 O'clock at his home, will be held Monday morning at 10 O'clock at the Kinber and West mortuary where acquaintances may call Sunday. Burial will be at Maquon where Mr Hopkins resided in his youth.

Mr Hopkins came to Galesburg 10 years ago to become associated with Brown's Business College, but was forced by illness to retire from that assignment several years ago. Previously he had successfully owned and operated a business school at Champaign for 30 consecutive years.

His education background before taking up his teaching career consisted of study in Knox College and Brown's Business College. He was a member of the Methodist church and had a hobby of gardening. Mr Hopkins was born Jan 24, 1877 at Peoria and was married to Mary West of Galesburg, Oct 29, 1908.

Those of his family surviving are his wife and children, Thomas R, Jr., Redwood City, CA; Mrs Helen Cohee, Wheaton; and Miss Ann R Hopkins, Chicago; brothers, Mark and Jess G Hopkins, both of Peoria. There are four grandchildren.
