Per Amy Prall Swensrud: Mary and Roscoe knew each other as children. Also remembers that she played the piano. Per Mary Barbara Swensrud McCoy: I remember Aunt Mary when she lived on N. Broad St. in Galesburg, IL when I was a child. Her house was near the railroad and the old Santa Fe Depot. I remember she had an icebox in her kitchen and an ice man still delivered blocks of ice to her house. This was already unusual I recall. I was also impressed with her excellent posture and think she was taller than my grandmother Bertie.

Resided in Champaign, IL for thirty years and moved to Galesburg, IL in 1938.

From Probate of her estate: She owned 82 acres of farm land and raised corn and soybeans. Heirs were her children. They received $3500. each.

2 months before her death she fractured her left sub-capital femoral neck and suffered complete obstruction of the esophagus.

Recipe from the Maquon Cook Book, 1st Ed 1905, Maquon Ladies Cemetery Assn, p 51. Barbara McCoy copy FRUIT PUDDING " Whites of five eggs, one cup of sugar, one cup of flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, flavor and bake. Dustard--Yolks of the five eggs, one-half cup of sugar, one and one-half pints of milk, three full teaspoons of corn starch, small piece of butter. Put together in layers, one of the cake, then the fruit and pour over the custard. This is nice with fruit such as peaches, bananas or oranges. --Mary West, Galesburg"
