Thomas A. Guthrie, age 78, passed away Monday, January 22, 2001, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born August 17, 1922, in Temperance, MI, the son of Thomas A. and Mary C. (McQuade) Guthrie. He graduated from Temperance High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Guthrie worked for Toledo Scale, Fisher Body in Tecumseh, and retired from the Dana Corporation in Toledo. After retirement, he moved to Largo, FL, where he resided for 14 years. Mr. Guthrie was a member of the American Legion Post #252 in Seminole, FL. Survivors include five children, Deborah (Ed) White, of Ann Arbor, Kim (Larry) Verdier of Cincinnati, Michele (Ben) Thomas of Clarkston, MI, Thomas (Vonnie) Guthrie of San Diego, and Mary (Ron) Nagy of Toledo, and six grandchildren. The Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2001, at Stark Funeral Service, Moore Memorial Chapel, 734-482-4900. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion, American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until time of service Thursday.
