Biographical Sketch of Jerome D. Ferree.

"The father of our subject, Thomas M. Ferree, was a native of Bracken County, Kentucky, but in early life moved to Clermont County, Ohio, and was there married to Miss Esther Nelson, a native of that county. After marriage Thomas M. Ferree engaged in mercantile pursuits in Clermont County, and was thus occupied until 1835. During that year he emigrated to Illinois, purchased a farm in Montgomery County, Illinois, and remained on it until 1845. He then moved to St. Louis County, Missouri, and took a contract for sprinkling the streets of that city, which he continued until his death, from cholera, in 1849."
