Barton Eddy was a Methodist Episcopal clergyman. He began his ministry when very young. He married a college classmate and they entered the missionary field. They sailed for India, Nov. 3, 1883. he became assistant pastor to Dr. Thorburn in Calcutta, while he was learning the language. He was then given charge of the wokr with sialeors and had just received his appointment as rpincipal of the Baldwin Schools at Bengalore and had served only six weeks when death came in Jan 1886. Mrs. Eddy remained a year in India and then returned to America....
