- ↑ The article on the Dunton family in NEHGR, p. 54:286, indicates the this Thomas d. 1683, but that is a misinterpretation of the death record, which actually applies to his uncle Thomas, who is also a son of Samuel. That this Thomas was alive is shown by his frequent mention in probate documents in 1705.
- ↑ There are two Thomas Duntons born in Reading that are somewhat close in age. Source:Dunten, Joseph F. Dunten/Dunton, 1644-1997, p. 10, Thomas #15, b. 1683, m. 1726 Deborah Alden. On p. 11, Thomas #29, b. 1695, m. 1721 Deborah Allen. This is clearly confused. It has been shown that #29, living in Sudbury, died in Western, and had a wife Sarah who was mother of his children and survived him. It is assumed that Deborah Allen and Deborah Alden are references to the same person, and goes with #15, though he is quite a bit older than her. Thomas and Deborah lived in Natick where he died. The situation is confused by a birth record in Natick that says Sarah (presumed to be an error based on probate documents), and both men each having one child's baptism recorded in Weston (but the records giving their respective residences correctly). However, the probates offer conclusive evidence for distributing children, and the names of the children suggest that pairing #29 with Sarah, and #15 with Deborah is correct.
