Lengthy profile in The Great Migration includes extensive court records and deeds regarding Thomas Davis, who was from Marlborough, Wiltshire, England and migrated on the James of Southampton in 1635. He was a constable in Haverhill in 1652. Birth is estimated as 1603, based on age at depositions. The Great Migration notes that it seems likely there is a connection between Thomas Davis and James Davis, of Gloucestershire and who also immigrated to Newbury and ultimately Haverhill, but does not prove or disprove this connection.

Anderson et al (The Great Migration, Vol. II, pp. 310-316) say that Thomas Davis was born "about 1603" but don't have anything to say about his parents or his date of birth (or baptism) and note his origin as "Marlborough, Wiltshire.

- ↑ Note: Great Migration identifies his origin as Marlborough, Wiltshire, which doesn't necessarily mean he was born there. If John Davis of Acton Turville was his father, Thomas might have been born in Acton Turville and moved to Marlborough (less than 30 miles away) as an adult.
