In the 1838 US Census there is listed a "Cox, Thomas Conial" and itis not known if "Conial" is his middle name or if its a Military rank.If it is the later, he would likely be considerably older than hiswife, Evaline, and could possibly have a family from a previousmarriage.

His father could possibly be Charles L. Cox., He could possibly beThomas Smith Cox (Cock) who was born in 1811 in New York, the son ofHenry Cock. This would be most logical due to the name patern of hisdescent: Thomas Cock - Henry Cock - Thomas Smith Cox.

He married Evaline Tandy in JeffersonCounty, Iowa in 1839 near the home of the birde's, then she would havejoined him at his home in Benton County, Missouri where they gavebirth to their oldest son, William F. Calvin Cox in December 15, 1840.

    The family moved to Apponoose County, Iowa in early 1849, where theiryoungest son, Henry Thomas Cox was born in March of that year inMarshall County, Iowa. Thomas C. died in January of 1850, most likelyshort of turning the age of 31.
