About Thomas Cole

Thomas O.E. Cole was born 24 January 1920 in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma, son of Otha Emerson Cole (1890-1958). He took over the Supermarket chain started by his father, Cole's Markets, after his father's death in 1958. Cole's Markets, founded in 1920, operated in the Long Beach area and grew to an eight-store chain at its peak. Thomas owned a huge cattle ranch in northern California which occupied much of his time in later years. Thomas Cole passed away on 27 November 2004 in Riverside County, California.

    Thomas O.E. Cole, 84, of Cherry Valley passed away on Nov. 27, 2004.

    Born Jan. 24, 1920 in Enid, Oklahoma he has lived in Cherry Valley for the past 6 years.

    He was an owner/manager of Coles Market for 20 years.

    He was a member of Long Beach Masonic Lodge #327, 32nd Degree Scotish Rite, El Bekal and Long Beach Mounted Police.

    He is survived by his wife, Sally Stokes Cole of Cherry Valley; daughter, Nancy Cole of Saint Helens, Oregon; sister, Lois Jordan of Seal Beach; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

    Family and friends gathered on Dec. 9 at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont.

    Funeral arrangements were handled by Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont.
