Origins

Other immigrants from Halifax, Yorkshire, Matthew Mitchell, Edmund Wood, and John Lum, settled at Stamford with Thoams and were probably on the James with him in 1635.^[2] Anderson notes that a Thomas Armitage married Susan Mitchell at Bradford, Yorkshire, and Severshith and others have thought this might be the immigrant, and that Susan Mitchell was related to Matthew Mitchell, but no one has been able to prove this. ^[3]
