Obituary for Theodore Clarence Turple: Ted 'Doc' Turple - A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug 5, 1996, in St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Mr. Turple died Aug 1 at age 95. He was born May 27, 1900 in Portland.

Mr. Turple was a dentist in Portland for more than 45 years, was founder of the Active and Old-Timers Baseball Assoication. He played baseball in Portland's City League and was on the 1931 championship team. After his playing career, he umpired in the City and Western International league for 14 years.

Ted Turple had a lively mind and had a wealth of funny storeis to tell. At his funeral, the priest shared with the congreation one of Ted's jokes and then led all present int he singing of "Take me out to the Ball Game."
