Thane Edwin Brown, son of Thane and Cora (Treadwell) Brown was born on 22 August 1909 in Wisconsin,. On 4 February 1937, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, he married Gretchen E. Kellogg. Gretchen was the daughter of Elbert C. and Kathryn (Schantz) Kellogg. She was born in 1911. Thane graduated from Marquette University and was an engineer. He graduated during the depression and initially was unable to get a job other than pumping gas. He then worked for the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps), designing and building fire towers. The family moved quite a bit during this time. They finally settled in Portland, Oregon. Gretchen died in Green Valley, Arizona. Thane died on 3 August 1990 in Green Valley.
