Jane Jenkins Dunlap was born in Union County, Ohio, in Allen Township. From family tradition, she weighed only 2 pounds when she was born. To keep her warm being that tiny, they laid her on the door of the oven. She received a "Certificate of Past Chief" in the Grand Temple of Rathbone Sisters, Greenwood Temple No. 88, on January 30, 1906. When they had the farm in Ossian, my mom remembered that Jane would bring chickens into Fort Wayne to her daughter's house and my mom, about 8 years old, about 1927-28, was asked to take the chickens around the neighborhood to sell them. After her husband died in 1932, she lived at 1120 Nelson Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1935 and 1937, she was living with her daughter, Golda M. Beck at 807 Home Avenue in Fort Wayne. She died of heart failure due to arteriolsclerosis and senility. She had been ill for two years.
