Facts and Events
Sylvanus was a cooper by trade. He fought in Capt. Clark's company of Col. Putnam's regiment in the Revolution, assigned to construct the breastworks at Bunker Hill, where he fought in the battle. After the war he moved to Hanover, NH, and helped found and build Dartmouth College., building also a farmhouse in Dorchester, NH. Sometimes called Sylvester Woodworth. Sometimes spelled Silvanus or Salvenus. References
