Sveinung Sveinungsson Vreim
d.1677
Facts and Events
Sveinung was called "Sølv-Sveinung" (Silver-Sveinung) because he had an unusually rich vein of silver on his farm. In 1663, he owned all or part of Vreim, Erikstein, Eikja, Vatnar, Folkestad, Stokland and Åse in Bø; Sundbø, Utgarden, Brekke, Garvik, Dalane, Midsund, Nordgarden, Rui, Heljestad, Dale, Nordheim and Holte outside of Bø. In all, he owned 30-40 tønner of land.[6]
His estate was distributed in 1666, after which he was supported by his heirs[3], as was not uncommon.

translation (with help from Google translate): In the tax land register from 1647 Holla church is listed as the owner of 2 tn as before, and the children of Åsulv Vindal of 1 tn. It was about this time that Sveinung Sveinungsson replaced Sveinung Gjermundsson as owner.

translation: Sveinung Sveinungsson Vreim [child of Sveinung Gjermundsson Vreim and Aslaug], b 1605, d. 1666, who they called "Silver-Sveinung", married to Tore Gjermundsdatter Sauar, Heddal. Her father was perhaps a descendant of Gjermund Torkjelsson Vreim.
Note that Sveinung's death year of 1666 is incorrect. That is the year his estate was distributed to his heirs, but this was a voluntary distribution, and he was still living (see 3:324).

'Sveinung Sveinungsson, blei enda rikare enn faren.
translation (with help from Google translate): Sveinung Sveinungsson was even richer than his father. In 1663 he stood at the height of his wealth and owned all or part of these farms: Vreim, Erikstein, Eikja, Vatnar, Folkestad, Stokland and Åse i Bø, and outside of Bø, Sundbø, Utgarden, Brekke, Garvik, Dalane, Midtsund, Nordgarden, Rui, Heljestad, Dale, Norheim and Holte, in all 30-40 tn of tax. This is the reason to call him the richest man in the village, but he also had the nickname "Silver-Sveinung", which had a different background. The distinction is found in a silver mine on his farm, and this mine or silver vein was unusually rich.
