    1:1:3 [1], June 13, 1844.

At Milton, W. T., December 16th, of a cancer, Susan, wife of Edward Burdick, aged 50 years. Mrs. Burdick embraced religion in early life at Berlin, Rens. Co., N. Y., where she united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church. Subsequently she removed to Alfred, Allegany Co., N. Y., where she held her membership in the 1st Seventh Day Baptist Church until her ransomed soul took its flight to join the church triumphant.

She lived a consistent member of the church militant more than thirty years and was highly esteemed by all her numerous acquaintances. During her last protracted and painful illness, she exhibited that patience, meekness, and resignation, which a well-grounded hope in the atoning blood of Christ alone can inspire.

As the tide of life gradually ebbed, and the dark valley yawned fearfully before her, the prospects of immortality seemed to increase in brilliancy, earth to lose its attractions, death its sting, the grave its horrors, and her ransomed soul to swell with triumphant rapture, till she fell asleep upon the bosom of her Saviour, to wake in his likeness and be caught up with him in the air.
