Susanna is my 4th great-grandmother.
She was the daughter of Wilhelm Best and Anna Susanna Schaeffer. She married Christian Lauffer "The Pioneer" in 1751 at Moore Township, Northampton, Pa. They had six sons and five daughters: Peter, Bartholomew (Bartol), Adam, Susanna, Henry, Elizabeth, Anna Catherine, Anna Maria (Mary), John, Magdalena (Matty) and Christian Jr.(Christian Jr. changed the spelling of his surname to "Loffer" around the time of his move to Ohio, about 1809/1810.)
Christian was a millwright and a farmer. It is said that after coming to America, the Lauffers settled in Pennsylvania because the land and climate was very much like their homeland in Weisenheim, Germany.
About 1774 Christian and Susanna, following several of their married children, migrated to Westmoreland County.
They lived on their farm, near Pleasant Unity, until they died.
Note: Although there is no proof, one way or the other, that Susanna is buried in the Bash cemetery, I believe there is a strong probability that she is. She died about a month after Christian died, and it makes sense that their children would bury them in the same place.
