  5. 5.0 5.1 Obituary for Mrs. Susanna Lightfoot, in Mulvane Record (Mulvane, Kansas).

25 Feb 1904 - Susannah Lightfoot was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, November 6, 1822. When twelve years old, with other members of the family of her father, Jacob Arnsberger, she moved to Wayne County, Ohio, when in 1838 she was married to Daniel Lightfoot, and continued a citizen of the commonwealth until 1854, when with their five children, they located in Williams County, Ohio, where they resided upon a farm for two years removing in 1856 to Cedar County, Iowa, by wagon and carriage conveyance and located upon one of the fertile farms of that, then new, country where they remained twenty-three years to witness the progress and to assist in the development of that Commonwealth, adding another son and two daughters to their family. In search of a milder climate, they came to southern Kansas in 1879 and located upon a farm a few miles southeast of Mulvane, where they resided several years before taking a home in Mulvane, where in 1895 he husband died, age 84 years, after which the home was maintained by her sons, until a few months ago, when on account of failing strength, she made her home with the family of her son-in-law, S. G. Farnsworth in Arkansas City, where an affectionate daughter ministered to her until February 18, 1904, when at 3:55 PM after a long active earnest Christian life, attended by devoted children and friends, she fell asleep in Jesus and rejoined her husband who had gone on before and had for nine years extended to her beckoning hand from the realms of eternal joy. She had no fear or dread of death, but during years of suffering she had waited with fortitude, for the departure rejoicing in the bright prospect before her. Eyes too dim for earthly service saw the beauties of eternal dawn, though gates ajar, by angels attended and rejoices while others wept. The body was brought to Mulvane for interment, and on February 20th, services were held in the Christian Church, Elder J. E. Cain presiding with a discourse, appropriate ceremony and beautiful floral tributes, the body was laid to rest in the Mulvane Cemetery to await the Savior's call. Among the many present was a younger brother of Mrs. Lightfoot, Michael Arnsberger of Americus, Kansas. Said brother, two sisters in Ohio, five sons and four daughters are left to mourn their loss of an affectionate Mother. ... Card of Thanks - To the many kind friends who so tenderly ministered to our dear Mother during her sickness, and so graciously assisted at her funeral, we extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude.

[NOTE: The above obituary states that Susannah's father was Jacob Arnsberger which apparently was incorrect information provided by a well-meaning relative. Susannah's father was Daniel Arnsberger who married Elizabeth Shade. There has been some confusion about this amongst various researchers and this same error has been repeated many times over.
