    Death of Mrs. J. R. Sempill
    "Mrs. Susan Sempill, the estimable wife of J. R. Sempill, of A. G. Carnahan & Co.'s establishment, died yesterday forenoon, after a lingering illness. Deceased had been an invalid for some months, and last summer went to the West Indies in the hope of improving her health, but in vain. She had been gradually failing ever since her return, until death relieved her sufferings. The funeral, will take place from the Stockton House, at half past 9 tomorrow morning."

Stockton Sr. was born bet. 1814-1819 in Bedford, Virginia and died about 1880 in Tippecanoe Co., IN. Susan may have had a brother James M. Stockton Jr., born between 1837-1841 who married Mary E. Lutz. This James M. Stockton Jr., died on the 28th day of April 1875 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN. This James M. Stockton Jr., is buried in the same cemetery as Susan Sempill, his probable sister.
