family legend provided by George Albert PORTER allegedly from his grandmother ERWIN: Susan worked in Blantyre Scotland, squeezing lint from under the (woolen) looms. .. that, at the age of 6, Susan worked in the cotton mills in Scotland sweeping under her father's loom. She went to Canada in 1845.

acc to George (above): Susan died in Canada in 1879...if this is so...why did she not appear on the 1871 Ontario census? and why was Mars enumerated as a widower in household of a daughter?
