STEWART HARRIS was born about 1803 in Tennessee. For additional information see the STEWART HARRIS will. Stewart and Mary Harris are buried in the Stewart Cemetery which is located on the corner of Hanley Pike and Orchard Grove Road in Bowersville, OH (Jefferson Twp.) Stewart fought in the war of 1812. He was a Private with CAPT. WILLIAM STEPHENSON'S COMPANY and CAPT. JOSEPH LUCAS' COMPANY, both probably from Greene Co, OH. The following census entries apply to Stewart Harris: 1820 (p. 137), 1830 (p. 309), 1840 (p. 287), and 1850 (p.430) all in the Caesar Creek Twp Greene Co, OH. Eva Hopkins says "I do know a Stewart Harris (an uncommon name) bought 100 ac on Man Fork of Indian Creek in 1801 Knox Co, KY and was on the delinquent tax list in Knox Co, KY in 1808--moved on?. " Rufus Harris says "I understand you are researching Stewart Harris, who also lived in Knox County." There are two IGI references to Stewart Harris that say he was born in Grainger Co., TN.

Stewart died on January 9, 1865 in Greene County, Ohio.
