"Great Falls Tribune", Tuesday, January 23, 1934 Shooting of Youth Is Held ??Accidental by Coroner's Jury "A coroner's jury inquiring into the death of Sterling Threet, 15, of 1009 Eighth Avenue South, who died in a local hospital Saturday evening a few hours after being shot in the head, held that he was accidentally wounded by a gun in his own hands. "The Threet boy and Dennbis Tirogalas, 15, of 12 Seventh Street North, were hunting rabbits along the Sun River about seven miles west of Great Falls when the accident occurred. Dennis was gathering weeds to kindle a fire when he heard a shot and turned to see his companion lying on the ground with a bullet wound in his head. The Tirogalas boy ran for help and obtained an automobile to bring Sterling to the hospital here. "The inquest was held Monday night at the Merrill Chapel, with Dr. B. A. Place, county coroner, in charge." Birth and death dates and places obtained from death certificate. |
