BIOGRAPHY: The below was copied from My Starnes Family on Rootsweb.com, this is all unverified information.

Stephen Knight, son of Richard Knight, Jr. and Phoebe Field, married Mary Manchester on December 23, 1763. Her father, Captain Matthew Manchester (1720-1801) served in the Committee of Safety, and the Committee of Inspection at Cranston, R.I. His grave is in swan Point Cemetery at Providence, R.I.

Captain Manchester's name appears in the Military Records and Census of 1777 in the State Archives of Rhode Island Historical Papers of Rhode Island Historical Society, called the Aborn Papers. Captain Matthew Manchester served on the Committee of Inquiry into conduct of suspected persons.

Mary Manchester was the second child in a family of 21 children by on father and mother.

Stephen Knight was Deacon of the Old Baptist Church in Scituate and led and exemplary life. His pleasant disposition made him beloved by all who knew him. His son, Elder Richard said that in the 50 years he lived with his father, he only saw him in a passion but once. (It is said that his wife, Mary, had temper enough for both.)

This marriage gives women the blood line that entitles them to join the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution); the men may join the S.A.R. (Sons of the American Revolution).
