Stephen was a life long resident of the First Ward in Oswego, NY. His place of residence at the time of his death was 181 West Bridge Street. In the early years he was engaged in the automobile business. Stephen had an automobile sales- room on West Bridge Street in Oswego. As a young man he was interested in baseball and was considered an expert player. During that time in his life he was also manager of several amateur teams. Stephen was a Republican and he served as a commiteeman in the third district of the First Ward in Oswego. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Oswego.
